Elo TouchSystems Expands Its Family of Open-Frame Gaming TouchmonitorsNew 21" CRT Touchmonitor Provides Greater Viewing Area and Player Attraction
Larger Playable Area to Attract More Players"All of our gaming monitors are designed as a direct result of feedback from game developers," says Paul Wiener, Elo's marketing manager. "The new 2187C 21"CRT touchmonitor was created in response to the need for a larger screen than our 19" model. While LCDs are increasingly popular in gaming, it is still possible to get a much larger picture with a CRT for about half the price of an LCD. Players do not differentiate between display technologies, but they do like a larger image. Elo's iTouch "touch-on-tube" gaming CRTs are 100 percent software-compatible with Elo's line of gaming LCDs. So the same games can run on both families of gaming touchmonitors." iTouch Touch-on-Tube Preserves 100 Percent of Picture QualityElo's iTouch technology ensures that picture quality and image clarity are retained across the larger display. "iTouch senses touches through surface waves on the CRT faceplate itself," says Mark Bolt, Elo's product manager, "effectively eliminating the need for a coated glass overlay. This means the touchmonitor provides 100 percent of the picture quality, retaining accurate, vibrant colors and clear graphic displays, with up to 80 percent less reflection than traditional overlays. iTouch also provides extremely fast, sensitive, and drift-free touch performance. With iTouch, button-only players are no longer penalized by the reduced optics that are often part of other touch technologies." Computer-Grade Video QualityThe new 2187C, along with the other versions in the family, all feature common mechanical construction and electronic design. The computer-grade digital design delivers video quality up to 1024 x 758 at 85 Hz with a 0.25 dot pitch. The main board is small (20 x 25 cm) and built from rugged epoxy composite PCD material (CAM-1). Elo considered the customer's need for easy field-serviceability and has designed the 2187C such that the CRT electronics can be easily replaced at the installed location. The minibezel's watertight seal is less than 1 mm thick – thinner than a coin – and is virtually invisible to players. Mark Bolt continues, "With the 2187C, Elo again delivers quality and reliability at an extremely cost-effective and competitive price point." For more information on Elo's products and services,
