Menlo Park, Calif. (Feb. 18, 2005) – Elo TouchSystems, the global leader in touch technology and a business unit of Tyco Electronics, announces the addition of surface capacitive technology to the Entuitive 1525L 15" LCD desktop and 1547L 15" LCD chassis models. The addition of surface capacitive technology to Elo's extensive touchmonitor family firmly positions Elo as the leading single-source solution provider for both touchmonitors and touch technologies: CarrollTouch infrared; IntelliTouch, SecureTouch, and iTouch surface wave; AccuTouch five-wire and AT4 four-wire resistive; and DirectTouch and ThruTouch projected capacitive. Importantly, customers can now select from one touchmonitor manufacturer the most appropriate touch technology for their application and environment. Elo's 1525L and 1547L touchmonitors with surface capacitive touch technology are ideal for use in the retail markets for point-of-sale (POS) and kiosk-based applications as well as in the entertainment/gaming market.

Accurate, Durable, Reliable and Robust

"The versatile and popular 1525L desktop and 1547L chassis touchmonitors have proven themselves to be accurate, durable, reliable and robust in the field," says Mike Sigona, Elo's market manager. "Both are currently available with Elo's infrared, surface wave and resistive touch technologies, so it was the next logical step to enhance them with our new surface capacitive touchscreens, an excellent general-purpose technology." According to Sigona, surface capacitive touch technology is environmentally resilient and offers superior sensitivity, including exceptional drag characteristics, with a fast, accurate touch response. "A transparent protective coating makes the overlay resistant to scratches and abrasions and also increases durability," he adds. In addition, touch performance is unaffected by everyday abuse and mishaps such as dirt, dust, condensation, liquid spills, contaminants or cleaning solutions.

Elo's 1525L Desktop Touchmonitor

Elo's 1525L Desktop Touchmonitor"The Entuitive 1525L 15" LCD desktop touchmonitor was designed from a blank sheet of paper to address the key needs of touch applications," says Sigona. "The result is a product that can truly be called designed for touch. It has a unique combination of flexibility, reliability, performance, and ease of use and installation, all with a distinctive visual appeal."

Elo's 1525L includes a stable tilt base that is also removable or reversible for wall mounting, plus a VESA mounting option. It features discrete cable handling so that the cables are all hidden from the user's view and controls that are placed on the side rather than the front with a lockout function for public use. The 1525L includes a choice of serial or USB touch interface, a sealed touchscreen for greater protection, multilingual OSD, internal power supply, and worldwide agency approvals.

Elo's 1547L Chassis Touchmonitor

Elo's 1547L Chassis Touchmonitor"Like all of the company's chassis LCD touchmonitors, the Entuitive 1547L 15" LCD touchmonitor has a long-lasting product cycle because the enclosure is controlled by Elo's specifications," says Sigona. "So the customer can make future panel improvements to the model without having to deal with external changes." The 1547L features a unique, injection-molded minibezel and virtually invisible watertight seal, plus a multitude of mounting options, including rear mount and VESA mount in its basic form, with optional front/panel-mount bezels or 19" rack mount bezel.

The 1547L includes a choice of serial or USB touch interface, multilingual remote OSD, internal power supply and worldwide agency approvals.
