Elo Introduces New 17" and 19" LCD Rear-Mount Touchmonitors

New narrow borders, bright display ideal for gaming and amusement applications

MENLO PARK, Calif. (May 18, 2006) -- Elo TouchSystems, Inc., the global leader in touch technology and a division of Tyco Electronics Corporation, announces two new Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) rear-mount kiosk touchmonitors aimed at manufacturers in the gaming and amusement markets. The new 1739L 17" and 1939L 19" LCD rear-mount touchmonitors feature high-quality panels with Elo's all-glass IntelliTouch surface wave touch technology for the utmost in optical quality and durability, all packaged in a compact form factor. Both touchmonitors feature a unique injection-molded minibezel with a watertight seal that makes them ideal for the rigors of public use in casinos and arcades. The touchmonitors complement Elo's existing family of 12.1", 15", 17" and 19" LCD rear-mount touchmonitors that feature Elo's range of touch technologies.

Availability and Uniformity in the Long Term

Elo's gaming touchmonitors have a long-lasting product cycle because the enclosure is controlled by Elo's specifications and tooling. Unlike standard LCDs, which can change form factor every few months, Elo's gaming touchmonitors have a long-standing record of being available—unchanged—through all phases of game rollouts, and even in the future when spares may be needed. This is a critical factor for manufacturers as well as operators, who do not wish to modify a machine at a remote site when a touchmonitor needs changing.

Bright Panels, Wide Viewing Angles

Elo's 1739L 17" and 1939L 19"LCD rear-mount touchmonitors feature top-quality panels with stunning visual quality and wide viewing angles to better attract players. The 1739L has a viewing angle of 178° x 178° and offers a typical contrast ratio of 1500:1 at 280 cd/m² brightness. The 1939L has a 170° x 170° viewing angle and a contrast ratio of 1000:1 at 250 cd/m² brightness. The pure glass IntelliTouch surface wave touchscreen maintains graphic quality and clarity, reducing the light transmission only slightly—to 230 cd/m² and 257 cd/m² respectively—and not altering colors, unlike other technologies. In addition, IntelliTouch technology has a reputation in the marketplace for long-term accuracy and reliability.

Compact, Competitive and Compatible

The 1739L and 1939L touchmonitors, like all of Elo's LCD gaming touchmonitors, feature a unique injection-molded minibezel and virtually invisible watertight seal, plus a choice of mounting options including VESA and rear-mount from the top/bottom or side, with and without the bezel. The new minibezel has a narrower design than previous models, allowing even smaller cabinet designs. Both touchmonitors have built-in support for both a serial and a USB touch interface, multilingual on-screen display (OSD), and worldwide power. 3D design files are available for both models, for easy integration into complete gaming machines.
