Tyco Electronics' Elo TouchSystems to Show Latest Touch Technology at International Gaming Expo 2009Elo TouchSystems Quality on Show with New Gaming Monitors, Zero-Bezel Touchscreen Monitors and Multi-Touch Technology November 2008 - Tyco Electronics' Elo TouchSystems will be showing its latest touch technology for gaming applications at the forthcoming International Gaming Expo, IGE 2009 (27-29 January 2009, Earls Court, London). The company's exhibits will focus on their quality, experience and leadership in touch technology with a broad range of touchmonitors and touchcomputers on display. The latest Elo gaming monitor, the 2240L, features a wide viewing angle panel (178° x 178°) in the 22" widescreen format and delivers all the traditional Elo advantages – designed for touch, long product life cycle and wide choice of touch technologies – in a slim housing. Aimed at casino applications, the 2240L can be supplied with surface acoustic wave, capacitive or acoustic pulse recognition (APR) touch technology within exactly the same form factor. The 2240L is now the third Elo 22" monitor in this popular format along with the 2200L and 2239L and an addition to the popular family of wide-aspect open-frame touchmonitors ranging in size from 19" through 32". Tyco Electronics' Elo TouchSystems will also be showing the latest developments in multi-touch technology as shown in the US at the presentation of Microsoft's future Windows operating system with multi-touch support. As a global player in touch technology, the company's state-of-the-art R&D capabilities and mass production facilities make them well positioned to exploit new opportunities in the mass user market and its proven infrared technology is capable of being adapted to deliver reliable, high sensitivity multi-touch functionality in high-volume desktop and kiosk monitors. With touch now becoming the standard user interface in gaming applications, Elo anticipates that multi-touch will become ubiquitous in the leisure sector. The company has already developed a working multi-touch technology and is close to launching new products for 2009. Multi-touch is likely to find many applications in the gaming sector as developers look to produce novel and ever more exciting user interaction. Also on show will be the stunning new Elo 1900L and 2200L high resolution LCD touchmonitors, the first zero-bezel wide-aspect ratio touchmonitors with a 100% useable surface area, offering a radically different look and feel for touchscreen technology. The zero-bezel design removes the frame, or bezel, of standard monitors to create a seamless glass surface designed to showcase the widescreen, high-definition experience that today's consumers have come to expect from all forms of video. Combining state-of-the-art Acoustic Pulse Recognition (APR) touch technology – an Elo exclusive – with a seamless screen, the 1900L and 2200L touchmonitors are designed for use in a variety of applications including cash registers, point-of-information, loyalty kiosks and casino management, and offer both aesthetic elegance and world-class durability. Additional Highlights at the Elo StandElo is also exhibiting its latest all-in-one touchcomputer family for casino management, sports betting and bingo applications among many others. The 17A2 17" and 15A2 15" models have an ultra-compact, flexible design, a comprehensive range of field-installable peripherals and a host of additional features that make them ideal for use in the leisure and gaming industries. The space saving, compact design of the 17A2 and 15A2 touchcomputers offer increased flexibility for easy integration of a variety of optional field replaceable peripherals including: three track magnetic stripe reader (MSR) for credit, ID and loyalty card transactions; customer facing display to verify those transactions; biometric fingerprint recognition for increased security; 3W speaker bar with optional single line or omni-directional barcode scanner; and DVD drive. The multi adjustable stand offers flexibility to accommodate a variety of installation configurations and the base is easily removed for secure mounting to countertops and walls.
