Technical Support

The Technical Support section of www.elotouch.com is an extensive online resource for understanding and troubleshooting touch system components (drivers, controllers, monitors, screens, computers, and other touch hardware).

See Contact Elo Technical Support (on www.elotouch.com) for a complete listing of telephone numbers, fax numbers and e-mail addresses for technical support.

Software Tips

To run the calibration program directly from your game: Execute EloVA.exe from your application.

To delete the Elo control panel: Rename the Elo control panel file with a .sav extension.

To suspend and restart the touch function (Windows 98 driver): Kill and restart sysmulti.exe. To kill sysmulti, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL. Touch no longer works in Windows and the COM port is released for anyone to use. You can use our touchscreen in DOS with COMDUMP for example. On exit back to Windows, hit Start/Run/sysmulti (it is found without specifying the path) and the touchscreen is working again in Windows. Code to suspend and restart the touch function under program control is available in this text file.

QuickTouch (Windows XP/2000)

This code allows super fast two-handed play, suitable for card games and Shanghai; it requires the latest Windows driver from www.elotouch.com.

Download QuickTouch (24K ZIP file)

Installation instructions:

  1. Install the latest Windows driver from www.elotouch.com.
  2. Run the control panel, select drag mode, and turn off drag delay.
  3. Unzip the ZIP file and execute the EXE to demonstrate the new QuickTouch functionality. Enable QuickTouch by clicking the checkbox on the bottom right-hand side of the window. Change the width to 175. Select Drag mode. Click the Apply button in order for the new setting to take effect.
  4. Open this source code project using VC++. The QuickTouchSample1.cpp documents the IOCTLs you will be using. The QuickTouchDx & QuickTouchDy parameters set the distance between two quick touch points. If you quickly touch within this distance then it does not consider it as a new touch. Only on touching outside this distance it generates a touch. To set the touchscreen mode to QuickTouch, you need to use the set mode IOCTL.

Z-Axis (Windows)

The Elo IntelliTouch/SecureTouch surface wave technology provides a 3rd axis for pressure (0-255). It is recommended to use this function as a relative value with user feedback, such as a gas pedal with audio feedback indicating the engine speed, or a 3D "squishy" button with more than just two states. It is not recommended to use Z to select absolute values, as it may differ from user to user, the angle of the finger, etc. The driver Control Panel must have Drag Mode selected, and the Drag Delay set to zero.

This code requires the latest Windows XP driver from www.elotouch.com.

Download Z-Axis demo (15K ZIP file for WinXP). The ZIP file contains sample code and a test application.
